For a workshop at Muenster School of Architecture I put together a Python component that lays linear strips on any mesh, following the "plank path" on a a given start point and direction. This simulates the behavior of a strip of flexible but sheer resistant material like paper or plywood.
A mechanical representation of the algorithm was 3d…

So I've been playing with adjusting mesh topologies quite a bit, and wanted to better understand how edge splitting, collapsing and flipping worked. To pursue this I thought it might be fun to try to modify meshes using a 3D approximation of Diffusion Limited Aggregation,…

Selectable Preview: Visual and Intuitive Grasshopper Selection
Selectable Preview is a simple component that helps users to select grasshopper geometry in Rhino viewport. While in most other parametric software packages, users can select objects directly in the modeling environment as input, in grasshopper, user can only…

A common part of fabrication is labeling the parts to make assembling easier, but typical TrueType fonts generally aren’t ideal for fabrication. After looking into them a little, we discovered that the problem was because fonts need to be closed profiles and not just paths. There are some pseudo single line fonts that can help minimize this problem, though there are often artifacts that may come through as missing or extra lines when Rhino drops part of the closed…

Hello everyone!
I'm new to grasshopper and I'm having some troubles trying to create a surface similar to the jambox one...
I've been using the Kangaroo Curve Pull, but I don't know how to adjust the springs and the pull strenght properly, but I'm pretty sure that's a way of doing it...
Anyway, I'm uploading my files…

There are several commands in Rhino which have mesh splitting capability, but we’ve had limited success with them in the past. This definition works for splitting a mesh with a set of a curves (lines, polylines, compound curves, etc.) by using a series of steps as described in the list below. The sample file we’ve uploaded is set up to work in the XY plane, but can be quickly edited to work with other planes.

Hi,
I'm trying to use a 3 variable functions f(x,y,z), Grasshopper for Rhino4 doesn't give that option; only 2 variables available.
Could anybody help?
Many Thanks

Hi,
I have a grasshopper model that generates a large number of points. These are then transformed and some culled to to get to the final result.
I would like to name the points at the start so I can recognise each of the results. Is there an easy way to do this.
Can you add "extra data" to a point? a list or tree, i believe, can only contain one data type.
Do you need to create a parallel path that manipulates a list of…

The other day I started to design my new business card, and I decided I could have a QR code on the back side. I started researching on the subject and I thought maybe I could change the shape of the little squares of the image, and I started to work with Rhino and Grasshopper.
In the attached video you can see the results. I've checked the reading with my…
