Austin Samson is an American born architect and designer. He holds a Master’s Degree from The Southern California Institute of Architecture (SCI-Arc) where he graduated with distinction and was awarded the SCI-Arc Service Award given to students who continuously provide outstanding contributions to the SCI-Arc community.
Austin began his architecture career in the wood shop of his local high school in Ledyard, CT and then moved to Boston, MA where he received a Bachelor of Science in Architecture from the Wentworth Institute of Technology. While attending Wentworth, he took part in a study abroad program located in Berlin, Germany. During that time he was able to learn from local German architects while traveling around Europe for three months.
In 2009, Austin participated in an internship program at Electric Boat, a company that designs and builds submarines for the U.S Navy. While at E.B he reviewed and scheduled renovation plans for buildings located on campus. In 2010, Austin was asked to be a part of the design team at RadLab Inc, a multidisciplinary design and fabrication consulting firm located in Boston, MA. There he utilized advanced 3D modeling and fabrication techniques that proved to be a great segue into SCI-Arc. After attending two semesters at SCI-Arc, Austin was asked to be a part of the design team at the distinguished firm Xefirotarch under Hernan Diaz-Alonso and Ivan Bernal. This would mark the beginning of a long term learning experience under Hernan that would span two studios and would end with a thesis project with Hernan as his adviser.
In January of 2015, Austin was an assistant professor at the Yale School Of Architecture where he aided Hernan Diaz-Alonso with his spring 2015 Advanced Graduate Studio. From there he moved on to become an adjunct professor at Wentworth Institute of Technology and the lead drafter at Eastland Partners.
Austin is committed to furthering his understanding of built form and its aesthetics in relationship to emerging digital design technologies stemming from all different types of media background.
