We used

a) surface from network of curves in rhino to form a grid pattern

b) turn pointson

c) extractpt to give center nodes

d) we then used Voronoi in grasshopper based on these points

e) adjusted the points so the edges of the Voronoi approximated our shortest routes between village clusters (not shown in this image)

f) Baked curves from voronoi

g) clean up and trim lines

h) exported desired line-work to illustrator for touch up

i) Background used grasshopper contour gradient definition>baked>exported to Photoshop/Illustrator for touch up.

I like it ! By the way how did you make these images? By using voronoi component ?
