Igor,
Thank you very much for your answer and for the definition! I will be doing some glare analysis and will update! Looking forward to your definition as well!

@Anastasios
For a set of vectors watch this video from Mostapha.
How to use sunpath in Ladybug - Part 2 of 3

Octopus! I just realized that it was just to compare with Galapagos results.
Actually I am not advanced user of it. Galapagos is somehow more
convenient for me.
I use this equation to search for results.
f = -Abs((A - target)/range) - Abs ((B - target)/range) - Abs((C-target)/range) - Abs((D - target)/range)
Where A,B,C, represents surrounding and D surface in a middle.
(-) stand for maximize.
Target is desirable amount of Solar Radiation. (make this number larger if you want to emphasize some results. )
Here is nice explanation from David Rutten and screenshot.
I am glad you like it.
I will provide a definition in a short time.
That is great work igor!
I was wondering, is it possible to have a look at your definition? I am quite interested in going into this analysis. If it is possible of course.
Kind regards,
Theodore.
Hi Igor,
Thanks for your input! Last question, the 4 hours od direct access to sunshine you used you extracted it by culling the mesh pattern and values of the "Sunlight hours" component or is there another way? I mainly used the total radiation for the orientation optimisation and the Sunlight hours to minimise shading. Also is there any setting in Octopus I should pay attention to in order to avoid long time in optimisations? (I never used it before and didn't really know what many of the options would actually modify)
Thanks again!
Tasos
Hi Anastasios,
Really nice task for both of us :)
Yeah is good to minimize number of vectors to get faster results!
In Ladybug you can set a analysis period.
I am using for a WINTER ( DEC 01 - MARCH 01)
between 10 AM - 2 PM
Sun vectors where temperature is higher than 6 ° C
a>6 °C
4 hours od direct acces to sunshine in winter.
It is a minimum useful for good passive
solar design.
57 Sun vectors
SUMMER ( jun 01 - sept 01)
10 AM - 4 PM
Sun vectors where temperature is higher than 19 ° C
a>19 °C
6 hours od direct acces to sunshine in summer.
447 Sun vectors
These vector are for gaining some energy trough PVs or something like that.
If you want to shade, ignore Summer!!!
Hi Igor,
Nice work! I worked on the same idea but with the surrounding geometries also being optimised at the same time with the same objectives. Unfortunately though Octopus optimisation seemed to last forever and I had to go run it with galapagos and with one set of (6 units) at a time. I now see your post and I am wondering what is the given "set of sun vectors" you worked with? (Maybe stupid question) but can you somehow internilise the vectors or something similar so you don't need to run the Radiation Analysis component in every iteration?
Thanks!
Tasos
Thanks..
Reflection as next step for sure.
Now I am still fighting to solve a problem .
I wanna maximize Solar Radiation on a new development (aka. arbitrarily surface)
and at a same time minimize impact on surrounding ( wich means to maximize also).
And there I have some kind of negation.
maxIs (Surface + Surrounding)
I tried with these 3dCubes, wich I randomly cull with Galapagos.
Results are not accurate.
I am thinking now some kind of some number of Walkers (cubes) in 3dSpace as Agents, to let them via Galapagos to find optimum place on a plot, where is radiation more and imact less.
That is why I tested with Human Modell.
Question is the same, to lett a human dance, and find a best position on a plot.

Very nice Igor! In cases like this with high density I would use Honeybee so you could see the effect of reflection from surrounding buildings. Specially if they have high reflective materials.
