Public art sculpture realised at Cox architects. 120m long bent stainless steel. Modeled using Rhino and Grasshopper. Grasshopper used to rationalise geometry.

Thank you for the reply Luke.
Can I ask you to just a bit further explain this part:
"a series of arcs which has maximum length and minimum bend tolerances."
You used Galapagos to achieve this?
Nothing overly complex. I used grasshopper to space the columns along the 3D line at intervals specified by our engineer. The columns has precise positions on the paving pattern and were limited in the angle they could lean due to issues around the vision impaired. I also used grasshopper to translate a free form spline into a series of arcs which has maximum length and minimum bend tolerances. We weren't able to achieve variable radius in the pipe bending though this may be available now? The grasshopper setup allowed me to radically tweak the form of the line and maintain all the engineering and fabrication constraints.
Very nice Luke!
Can you tell me more about the usage of Grasshopper to rationalize geometry?
In what way was that achieved?
