I have been playing around with graph drawing a little lately (http://pubs.acs.org/doi/pdf/10.1021/ci9900938).

Wanted to use it for layout problems from bubble diagrams, but what I got reminded me a little to much of minimal surfaces and since I don't have a clue about minimal surfaces I wanted to hear some thoughts/remarks...
