Hello Chi-X,
the 'Large Deformation'-component of Karamba can be used for form-finding when the nodal displacements are large. In such cases a geometric linear calculation is not sufficient and the geometry of the model has to be updated during the deformation process. The number of load increments sets the number of these updates. The larger this number the better the accuracy of the resulting approximation. Please refer to the manual for details.
In the example above the starting point was a flat mesh of beams which got deformed using the large deformation component. In a second step dead weight was imposed which lead to the stresses shown.

Hello ,
I am an Architect student and I am working on a project on pneumatic dome shapes.
I would like to study deformations on rubber structures in order to control the shell shape variations. I am new with KAramba structural analysis and I have just started with this pneumatic studies file. I am a bit confused on how the deformation component works....
What does it mean number of load increments and how this affect the shell structure?
What are the structural differences between the shells below?
