@Laurent Are you drawing those images with a script or using Squid ? I'm almost sure Squid would not take that much time to draw all of those lines...

I think 4000 lines needs 1000 pixel x 1000 pixel images. I tried to make my code multithreaded but didn't manage to make it work.
Yes it will be nice, image must be well choosen and also with the good contrast. Adusting transparency seems to help a bit with "small" image. Here a test with an image rescaled to 600 pixel. But it was very long (2-3 hours).
I will redo the portrait from Danny Santos I use to see if it is better. Result in 1-2 hours !
Would be nice to see an image with thousands of lines, except you'd have to draw them using transparency to avoid saturating the bitmap...
These images are generated in less than 5 minutes (2.3 and 4.6) with 400 or 800 lines, and a rescaled bitmap of 200 pixels.
