Thanks for the comments.
Yes, it still uses IFC as it's medium for transferring the data. But the new components are structured in a way that there is less expectation on the user knowing the IFC framework, instead using Revit terms and descriptions. This should make it much easier for users to engage. On the revit side I have a plugin to do the importing of the IFC using the advanced characteristics of IFC4 to represent the model in terms consistent with Revit.
You can already do some importing of data from Revit, but improving this is high on my todo list (to follow the creation of more simplified components). This includes loading a "template" so that there is less onus on the grasshopper script to define materials and families. If you have particular requests for functionality, send them through.
Cheers,
Jon
Hi Jon.
I am looking forward to trying this out.
Does this use IFC? The Revit API? Or something different?
Do you have any plans of trying to go the other way as well? Being able to export from Revit and import to GH? I am using Hummingbird/Whitefeet to export from Revit and then I am reading Excel/CSV files in GH, but the export has a lot of limitations, so if you start working on that at some point, I would love know (and join) :).
Best regards Rasmus
Good work jon....
I look forward to test this.
