Firefly Video-processing: Dubai Creek Landscape Dynamics 1984-2013

Using a series of stills from satellite images from 1984-2013 I first made a time-lapse video (in première pro).

This video is then processed using very experimental techniques with Firefly for grasshopper.

I used bitmap sampling techniques to collect layers of information from the satellite feed, for example, colour gradients/ brightness levels, allowing for image variations to be drawn/quantified. Playback of the time-lapse video and recording this output provides an accumulation of landscape data as it changes over time.

In this drawing the dark blue to white gradient represents past (1984) to present landscape. The light-cyan lines are an additional layer, showing the most dynamic areas of change/movement in the video feed.
