@Wisnu.
The diagram you see to explaining the screen is fairly reduced. All the reasons you mention are in. The House is going to be built in Jakarta. We had a close look a the sun path. The parameters for the screen are:
1. Size of the element: big enough to look through an don't feel caged, small enough to have an graphical effect. Cross checked with the amount of material used for the screen to have less costs and weight on the cantilever.
2. Screen depth is related to the sun path and size of the elements: The glass face behind is shaded throughout the whole year at any time during the day.
3.Pattern density and distribution with the gradient map: What you see are two residential units next to each other. In front of the sleeping rooms the more closed patterns occur to ensure more privacy. In front of the two middle zones where a kind of second living room is located the pattern is more open. The most dense patterns are concentrated in front of the parent's bedrooms (middle of the whole building).
is there any trigger for the 'batik' pattern could transform (such as expand the width) ? like sundial trigger or anything? i think that would be a good one if u can include it..
yasser: asek indo juga,salam jogja :D
The pattern itself doesn't matter so much it could be square based or hexagon basically everything which is able to tessellate a surface. The trick here is that there is no gradual transformation between the elements but that they are 5 separate entities. Similar to the Omotesando project which I posted. Meaning one would be able to mass produce only 5 different elements and not n-amount of individual ones. The placement happens through a grey-scale map which grasshopper reads and places the tiles accordingly into a rigid grid. The seemingly continuity of the whole pattern happens through self similarity and little transformations of the internal pattern within the 5 different hexagons.
Fariz, Wisnu: a good place to start
salam dari Bandung, :)
oh wow,thats great! i like this,can u tell me how u make it?xD thanks before..
nice work, can i learn the definition? beacuse i have a task from my college to use batik pattern in my facade, so it will be very useful. Thanks before
I almost don't dare to say it but our client rejected the facade mostly because they could not understand it..However we are looking into the possibility to use it for another project.
Hi Florian, interesting idea to used Batik pattern, can't wait to see this project built
Good
