Grasshopper

algorithmic modeling for Rhino

Using the simple example in gHowl to transfer the data from Processing to Grasshopper. After that, I use weaverBird to make the mesh. First we try to make 2D pattern, then use the 3D swarm points to get the mesh.

Hi, Shin Bahk,
If you manage to get the 3 dimensional points by this method, it should be easy.
What I did is just use those points as a point cloud and simply apply them with "delaunay" component under the mesh-category. then use weaverbird to get some smoothness and funky shape.
Hope it works for you.

Hey Jia-Rey, great work here. I had a look at the screen shot definition and everything works fine in 2D. How did you then use the 3D swarm points to get the final resulted mesh? Thanks

many thanks for your kind of help and information.
i'll try it.

The grasshopper definition is quite simple

It just read the data from Processing to get the coordinate of the Swarm points,

The problem would be how to make the Swarm in processing

My suggestion would be: you just download gHowl(http://www.grasshopper3d.com/group/ghowl)

The have examples in the download folder. Actually my definition is using the example and mixed with the weaverbird or voronoi. you can see how it could work with the MAYA, WebCam, Processing and even the iphone here: http://www.grasshopper3d.com/group/ghowl/page/ghowl-videos, maybe this is what you want to do: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GQ_T8FMSiAQ&feature=player_embed...

Hope this helps you.

very interesting work!

can you tell me, if is it possible to bind your definition with a maya particle-animation file,

for example with this tutorial made by Stuart Christensen?

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RwIwC8cDHvU

i know two works made by:

http://www.livearchitecture.net/archives/3745

and

http://www.cerver.org/projects/maya-particle-import/

that shows how to import the particles in grasshopper in order to continue working.

by the way, would you share your defintion?

thanks

yes, I do use the Delaney, but I also use the weaverbird to make the opening and smooth the mesh a bit. and it is a real time form which can change, you can come to my blog http://pandalabccc.blogspot.com/2011/09/swarmy-processing-grasshopp... to see the video as well, and Thanks for your commend.

nicee!!! I have been researching into a similar approach & methodology and it is amazing how similar the results are..I suppose you used Delaney triangulation in this render right?? check out my case study..
