A structural logic embedded into the process would make the system much more flexible. However the component itself is resistant to change in scale to allow for bending unless all components in its axis change as well. This makes the system troublesome as you might as well size the component to begin with to allow for various bending radius

I would be even more interested in creating variation between pieces, not simply in scale but in logic.
