so, in photography you can expose one frame more than one time (say two times),

could such a overlapping or a superposition of (a) shape like the hull you computed with (b) cloud of varying density representing the grain of wood achieve a similar result?

its just renered as wood.

Is the wooden pattern "only" a texture or is it continued as material through the hull?
