Did you experienced any problems with the WinAir / Ecotect link? In my case nothing is happening when I hit run in Ecotect even though I changed clock and folder access permissions.
Hi Alessio,
There is a problem when I export the geometry into ecotect from GH. It doesn't work... How do you export the geometry? as wall, partition...? do you export a mesh or another type of geometry?
Thank you!
Fran!
Hi Alessio,
I have been trying to export a mesh from rhino to ecotec for make the simulation but with this exported mesh the simulation doesn't start and this is so strange, because, when I draw something it works...
Do you know where is the problem?
Thank you in advance ;)
Fran
Hi Fran! The wind simulation is not in real time, however through gEco you have seamless GH-Ecotect interaction (real-time bidirectional communication for geometry). If the geometry from GH is changed you'll have to re-run the wind simulation.
Elise: sorry for not answering, I must have overlooked the notification e-mail (as you might have guessed I don't check this place very often...). To grab wind data back to GH you should use gEco vector grid component, you can then retrieve in GH the vector grid one plane at the time.
Elise, for install WinAir you have to set your computer clock to 2006 or before.
Alessio, i'm trying to do something similar for my final project degree. Is Your simulation bidirectional? what I want to say is if you change your surface it will change the surface in GH and it will change the air?
Thanks,
Fran
Hi Alessio,
WinAir won't install because it says the trail periode has elapsed... I don't understand because it seems you tried it not so long ago.
Anyway, I also would like to import wind-data into grasshopper and found this: http://wikihelp.autodesk.com/Vasari/enu/TP21/Help/0519-Analyze_519/...
But I have no idea how to import that. Do you think it's possible? Is there an other solution?
Or maybe it's better to work with maya?
Thanks,
Elise
Hi Raphael,
the link I posted takes you to a page where the first link is the download link you are looking for.
Hi i m doing my diploma and i really need to perform a cfd analysis do u have any idea where i can find winair? the link doesnt give any execution file so i cant install it...
I really need it since i have a roof with openings and i really need to show that the wind creates positive pressure on the front and negative on the back...
can anyone help me?
thks
Hi arie11a0,
if you are working on a case similar to mine (flows outside a volume) both "boundaries" and "outside" options will do.
In any case I don't know how really accurate is WinAir in CFD calculations, it should be confronted with ANSYS fluent or NIST FDS (which in the future should replace winair as a CFD engine for Ecotect).
