Cardboard Surfboard Core I Quarter Iso Grid

This cardboard surfboard core is generated by a grasshopper "quarter iso grid" definition. The work is inspired by Mike Sheldrake's great iso grid cardboard surfboards. The project's goal is to create individual, customer-shaped cardboard core surfboards based on a web-based shape generator based on i.e. processing. This project is kindly supported by Mike Sheldrake (http://sheldrake.net/cardboards/), Tischlerei Bächer GmbH (http://www.tischlereibaecher.de/)/ Sebastian Bächer, Christoph Schulz, Maik Holtiegel and Jan Tenbücken.

Further application opportunities in field of interior design and architecture are being tested.

Hi, is it possible to get this iso grid definition? I try to do it but I don't find a way. Thanks!

Thanks Hans! I'm excited to mess around with it some. Where are you surfing in Koln?

Dear Ricardo,

thanks for your request!
here is a new link with an updated definition.
https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/5012486/funboard.zip

i just have to warn you, that the definition is quite complex and not easily adaptable to all kind of shapes as the definition is still in progress.
Please feel free to write every time you have a question... i will try to help out as good as possible!

by the way we also build the first boards now in the fablab cologne (dingfabrik.de)

best
Hans

Hans-

The dropbox link is broken again! Can you post a new one? I'd love to see how you worked out this problem. Thanks

Hi Hans,

thanks a lot for all the documents, all of them are working quite well!!

Actually I'm trying to find out the way to apply the script of the Quarter Iso Grid to an unevenly revolved surface, but still haven't found the solution...

I will be really happy to share some good result, hope they can come soon!

Thanks again!

Hi Alessandro,

here is a new link with the 2 grasshopper files (i seperated two processes to avoid a collapse of the system) and a rhino file with a surfboard.

The Link is: https://dl.dropbox.com/u/5012486/Quarter_Isogrid_Board.zip

I also added some screenshots of some gh previews so you have an idea how it should look like.

Please let me know if it worked out well! There might be some issues due to the last GH updates though.

I would appreciate if you could share your experiences with it and some results - unfortunately i wasn t able yet to laminate my boards but i also assume it might need some border rendering (maybe an additional GH tool) to make the board' edges properly smooth...

Dear friends, first of all thank you for sharing your work, it's really interesting.

Could it be possible for you to load the file of the two Iso-Grid Definitions again? actually the link is not working.

Thank you in advance, it would be quite helpful.
