I emailed autodesk again the other day about Vasari (given the current version is due to expire in 2 weeks).  I have sent them some example code that prevents me directly importing IFC into Vasari (without using Revit).  We'll see what the response is, and if the (hopeful) new version permits this.

Thank you for your e-mail, I do remember you quite well :)

I'm afraid the Netherlands thing didn't thrive, I arrived when the economic "crisis" hit the country hard, so the studios where reducing people, and not hiring.
But still in Amsterdam, I got a call from a big Portuguese studio interested in my work, and I didn't look back.
I'm living and working in Lisbon, but most of my work goes to emerging markets like Africa and middle east.

During the process, I got more focused in other issues, than grasshopper (I was a father for example). So I've paused my experiments, but willing to get back as soon as I can (in a very short time), I have loads of catching to do. Maybe I will ask you for some hints :)

The portuguese market is screwd like in the rest of the world. It's possible to get work to do, but it's getting harder to colect the money. So ppl are looking into emerging markets.

the topics i mentioned are pretty general -

my field is architecture and i am currently using grasshopper in my thesis, trying to design a system for site planning optimization. 

not urban planning i am working on a smaller scale.It is actually optimization of placement of a building complex on site according to a couple of evaluation criteria: solar insolation and buildings proximity.

submission is in two weeks so it has to be finished pretty quick!!after that i'll be working on my presentation, so i'll probably make some video that i could post on the forum. 

it still needs some process (and probably will still need after submission), especially because of the nature of the problem that has to be generalized for many cases and thus produces complicated data structures and laaarge calculation times!

yes the title sounds pretty serious :) i hope the outcome will be as well!!

The form was not made with cfd. It is just a free double curved form used to test how to generate a geodesic gridshell with wooden stripes.

Yes, my thesis topic was "Solar Responsive Facades". I used geco plugin to link ecotect to my rhino model via grasshopper. I developed a geometry derived from the scales on a reptile's skin. Calculated the incident solar radiation values on the facade of Kunthaus Graz, which were then used to control the aperture sizes of the populated geometry.

My grasshopper skills are very basic.. so nothing too fancy!! Here are few images:

actually that was defined for Internal Elastic Energy, which makes deflection you pointed about. Definition here i wrote, has some deep better making possible, like:
"how can i make a range out of my item list to be checked by galapagos for selecting the best position of supports?"

but in fact, that was a first step forwarding!

yep, in order for performing the operation, the Internal elastic energy defined as the fitness you're looking for,

which means, the algorithm set the supports making the minimum internal elastic energy in structure,

even if you think it was a mistake to take down the internal energy adapted to support position, i will appreciate any kind of advises!

The architect at T2 use Rhino for parametic construction of the roof of the Pier. That's where we got curios. We, Aas-Jakobsen (www.aas-jakobsen.no) are looking at Rhino as a possible software to our bridge and road department, to help us with difficult geometry in construction projects.

We are all newbies in Rhino, but having a course in few weeks at a Norwegian company called Pivot.

Because of the project site is very hot and dry in summer at the same time cold and windy in winter, my main purposes were the getting as possible wind in summer avoiding as possible cold wind in winter. And i also arranged the least sun exposure areas with light exposure analysis with ecotect. Also sea breeze effect i calculated. The direction and speed of wind were determined for it. It is important passive cooling effect for area. for getting sea breeze into the structure one part of the general system more elevated than other part. It was a one whole term project. Lots of analysis i made.End of the analysis i check if they work or not with Vasari wind tunnel program. According to the shape which is uploaded, there are some elements with some nodes incorporated with them. I need the world coordinates of each node and connectivity of nodes for each element.

for example, for element 1, the related nodes are 1,2,6,7

Thank you I am totally flattered! Yes, I studied Industrial Design at RISD. The first 3d modeling software I was introduced to was Rhino, but I have been using Maya for most of my career. Now that game engines can handle more polygons I want to experiment with Grasshopper.

I use Max sparingly. For the characters, they were sketched in Zbrush and retopoed in Maya.

However, for some reason its not generating the terrain because is says its not possible to connect to the remote server of opentopography.org. I have already waited a couple of hours but it's still not working. Do you have any idea what the solution could be? From some previous posts I understand there is a way to enter the data manually but I truly don't understand exactly what is the information I need or where to get it from. I want help from Grasshopper user .. I have file AutoCAD for masterplan I want to add it to Grasshopper.

I don't have file GIS, All I had is file dwg and analysis I did by Photoshop as (Existed Landuse, Heights, Street Width, .. etc).I want to make the relationship between building height (with its ducts openings) and width of streets.

What I know that import Autocad in Rihno but the progress to do in grasshopper, I have not enough information about it (I am not professional Grasshopper user ).

And what to import in Rhino is the outline of masterplan not with the existed building .. This is what I know must be done.

All I want to do is a Conceptual urban planning .. I watched a tutorial for it but I don't succeed in do it.
