Not all plug-ins were found on the package server.

Developers, please visit https://discourse.mcneel.com/c/serengeti/yak to find out how to add your plug-in to the package manager.

Hi Shahrokh Kamyab,

do you use some types of firewall to block internet access to Rhino?

In any case, I am letting Will Pearson (dev of Yak) know!

Thanks,

Giulio

Thanks Giulio. Shahrokh, can you try a few things for me? Firstly, what version of Rhino 6 are you running? (Use the `_SystemInfo` command.) Next, on the same machine as Rhino, can you access https://yak.rhino3d.com/packages in a browser? Lastly, open “cmd.exe” and type `”C:\Program Files\Rhino 6\System\yak.exe” search weaverbird` (include everything between the ``) and hit enter. Do you see any errors? Please copy and paste the output here (hint: to copy from cmd.exe, select the text and hit enter). Thanks!

Hi Will Pearson,

I'm in same problem with Shahrokh.

I tried after changing firewall settings to ignore rhino and Yak, but failed.

I report my results below.

> what version of Rhino 6 are you running?

Rhino 6 SR11 2018-12-14 (Rhino 6, 6.11.18348.17061, Git hash:master @ 600b621e607cf5226a968db60d7ac9230541b94d)

>on the same machine as Rhino, can you access https://yak.rhino3d.com/packages in a browser?

Yes, I can (and could find weaverbird there)

>open “cmd.exe” and type `”C:\Program Files\Rhino 6\System\yak.exe” search weaverbird` (include everything between the ``) and hit enter. Do you see any errors?

"Weaverbird (0.9.0+1-yak-and-mac)" was returned and no errors.

I'm happy if it helps! Thanks!

Kotaro, thank you for the info. Unfortunately I don't have any immediate ideas as to what could be causing the connection error. I've logged an issue (RH-50411) and I'll look into it...

For now, as a work around, you could use cmd.exe to install weaverbird with the following command:

”C:\Program Files\Rhino 6\System\yak.exe” install weaverbird

Of course, if this fails too then please let me know!

Will, thanks for reply!

Unfortunately,

”C:\Program Files\Rhino 6\System\yak.exe” install weaverbird

fails too....

I'll continue to try to find what causes this and let you know if found!!

Thanks!

Hi Kotaro

could you be more specific? Do you see some error message?

Thanks,

Giulio

Thanks Giulio for reply

ah sorry,

”C:\Program Files\Rhino 6\System\yak.exe” install weaverbird

returns

and nothing happened.

Thanks,

Hi Kotaro,

(Replying to your message below.)

The output from `”C:\Program Files\Rhino 6\System\yak.exe” install weaverbird` suggests that Weaverbird was indeed installed. Are you saying that it doesn't show up when you start Grasshopper?

You can use the `”C:\Program Files\Rhino 6\System\yak.exe” list` command to check which packages are installed. Based on the installation succeeding I'd expect Weaverbird to be in that list.

Yak unpacks the packages to %AppData%\McNeel\Rhinoceros\packages\6.0. Inside that directory you should find a "Weaverbird" folder, and inside that a "0.9.0+1-yak-and-mac" folder containing the .gha and other files. Please check that the files exist here.

As a last resort, to rule out other causes of this issue, could you please...

  • A) check in Grasshopper's "Components" folder (%AppData%\Grasshopper\Libraries) for any existing Weaverbird files, including any files with .no6 extensions.
  • B) if there are no Weaverbird files in the Components folder, then please try copying the "0.9.0+1-yak-and-mac" folder over from Yak's packages directory and seeing if it loads in Grasshopper. (This is the way that Weaverbird used to be installed and unless there's something really wrong it should get you working again!)

Thanks for continuing to provide feedback. It's really useful in helping us to help you and improve the software!

Hello Will!

Thanks for the reply. I am using version 6 SR11 ( 6.11.18348.17061)

Yes I can access https://yak.rhino3d.com/packages

When I type in CMD I get:

usage: yak [--version] [--help] <command> [<args>...]

and nothing seems to happen

Best

Shahrokh

Hey Shahrokh, something must be wrong with the command that you're typing into cmd.exe. Are you sure you're including the full command, as below?

”C:\Program Files\Rhino 6\System\yak.exe” search weaverbird

Please also see the thread above with Kotaro for some more ideas. If you can try some of these other suggestions and provide feedback then it'll be a big help in working towards a solution!
