Grasshopper

algorithmic modeling for Rhino

Hi,

I have a script WIP applying three loads to a structure;

1. Gravity

2. Point Load

3. Wind load

I've been following the tutorial Karamba Structural Analysis

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-t3yE1xxMUo

All seems to be working well except my wind load is applying to some of the points on the back of my mesh. I followed the steps in the tutorial drawing a line from all the points and culling those that intersect the mesh twice. This worked for some of the points but not all.

I have included screenshots with the part of the script highlighted.

Any help would be great thanks.

Hi Hernan,

maybe the intersection count does not work like you expect, when the lines just touch the mesh.

Alternatively you could use a MeshLoad in your script to simulate the wind action.

Best,

Clemens

Hi

I wonder that this manner is not working accurately. In wind loads, it sucks the other side of the structure, but we do not notice this point. what shall we do?

Best,

Asem

Hi Asem, to simulate the windloads accurately you should also apply an additional suction load on the opposite side of the structure.
