Hi. 

I was wondering if there was a way implemented in Karamba to set the a load that, e.g. will decrease with the tilt of panels? 

When looking at a dome for example, the surface load (kN/m2), changes with a factor in regards to the tilt of the faces on the dome. This is of course to resemble that snow will slide down, if the tilt is steep enough. 

So I was wondering if the mesh load, can somehow take care of this? Or should that be done outside and then added as a tree of vectors with different factors to the vec input?

Hi,

MeshLoad with the 'global proj.' option is the right choice for simulating snow load.

It can not take into account special conditions like valleys in roofs where snow would gather, but serves well as a first approximation.

Okay... It makes sense, I just thought I would try to ask. It will not be hard for me to calculate the tilt of faces and then define a factor to multiply with the vector of global projection, I just thought I wanted to make sure that there was not something like this already implemented.

Normally the globally projected area load is what you want for snowloads. Do you plan to implement a more sophisticated procedure? I could send you details in case you want to program your own component.

I am not sure how sophisticated it is, but I just wanted to apply load factors according to Eurocodes for the tilt angle. This would mean that when optimising through formfinding, it could be interesting to see if a different shape was found, when e.g. snowload decreased as the shape got "steeper". I'll see how I'll far I get.
