algorithmic modeling for Rhino
Hi
I'm using Karamba to analyze a gridshell. The Analyze component gives me the displacements ("Maximum displacement of each loadcase of the model at end points and mid-points of elements") and the manual specifies these displacements as the "local peak values".
I'm unsure of these definitions so I made this crude drawing (attached) to get it explained.
What is the displacement in Karamba? Is it d1 or d2 in the drawing? Or something else?
I hope the question (and the drawing) makes sense.

the displacement in Karamba3d is meassured from the initial position (like d2 in your drawing).

Any ideas on how to obtain the d1 (from drawing) displacement? Where d1 is the movement of the beam compared to (the initial beam) a line between the start and end node.

Hi Lasse,
calculate the rigid body movement at the point in question by linearly interpolating the displacement of the end-points of the beam. Then subtract it from the d2.
