algorithmic modeling for Rhino

Hi all

I am trying to figure out which method is used in "Buckling Modes" component to calculate the buckling load factor. The manual says that the component uses von Mises iteration to determine buckling modes. Could someone please elaborate on this? And also the method for getting the buckling load factor.

Thanks

Hi Lasse,

Karamba3d uses the library 'arpack' for calculating the buckling load factors and buckling shapes.

They are the result of the solution of a general eigenvalue problem which involves the stiffness matrix according to first order theory and the geometric stiffness matrix which covers second order effects.

Best,

Clemens
