Beam Loads, Cross section optimization

Hi, 

I have a small question, I'm trying to figure out why the component beam load creates no force reaction in the beam its applied to but in the rest of the structure it does. I hope someone can help with this. Also if anyone has any tips on how to get started with cross section optimization on this structure, any advice would be welcome.
