algorithmic modeling for Rhino

Hi all,

I was wondering which kind of interpolation is used for beam elements in Karamba, and if they take shear deformations into account (Timoshenko beam).

Cheers,

Romain

Hi Romain,

Karamba takes account of shear deformations of beams.

It uses a matrix transformation method to determine the nodal forces from beam loads and cross section forces at arbitrary positions along the axis. For details see e.g. 'Rubin H., Schneider, K.-J.: Baustatik Theorie I. und II. Ordnung, Werner-Verlag, Düsseldorf, ISBN 3-8041-3084-4'. The book is however in German language. When you google 'beams matrix transfer method' you will find contributions in English as well.

Best,

Clemens

Hi Clemens,

that's exactly the information I needed, thank you.

Cheers,

Romain
