algorithmic modeling for Rhino

Dear all,

I am testing the eccentricity feature that you can apply on beams (a set of 2 X-beams are connected through hinges, cfr. attached gh file).

The weird thing is that my section force diagram changes when eccentricity is applied:

- when eccentricity = zero: My-diagram is continuous with a single peak value (capture 1)

- when eccentricity = a value, for example 5 (setting the blue group with the integer param, meaning that the left X-beams are moved globally in the -x direction and the right X-beams in the +x direction): My diagram is no longer continuous, having two different peak values.

Why is the section force diagram changed? At the position of the peak values nothing is changed at the boundary conditions: the whole X-beam configuration is either moved to the left (left X-beams) or right (right X-beams)..

Thanks in advance!

this maybe clarifies something.

eccentric (as well as imperf, meaning non-straight) beams under axial loads show bending moments due to their geometric properties.. this most probably is the reason.

hope this helps,

cheers

okay thanks!
