Grasshopper

algorithmic modeling for Rhino

Hi there,

I'm doing a project which uses Karamba for a simple FEA shell analysis and remaps the data to material flow to create G-code for an extrusion based 3D printer.

At the moment I'm finding the closest shell vertices for each of the nodes in my structure. I'm then adding the magnitude of Principal force one and principal force two from the ShellVecResult component and mapping those to my flow values.

I have very little knowledge of either FEA's or structural optimisation so I was hoping someone could point me towards the best way of improving my structure based on flow rate.

I'm looking here at depositing material where my structure needs it most and vice versa.

Is this the most meaningful data to inform my the flow rate?

Should the FEA be carried out directly on the hexagonal structure?

Thanks in advance!

Charles
