Grasshopper

algorithmic modeling for Rhino

Dear Karamba team,

As can be seen in the 'Static scheme' attachment, I am trying to make this scheme in Karamba.
Unfortunately, I am not able to. I tried the 'Beam-Joints' component, but I am not getting any useful results.

The bottom two hinges of the attachment are of course supports, but I am having trouble with the top hinge.

From what I learned at university, a hinge has the properties as stated in the 'MatrixFrame' attachment (this is a screenshot from software that we use at university).
I am not seeing those properties in the 'Beam-Joints' component. Where can I find those properties (to tag them), or is there another way?

Thank you very much in advance.

Kind Regards,
Ammar Yassiri

Hi Ammar,

you  an use the BeamJoints component to release the joints. The example shows how you can do it using the element number, otherwise you can also use element ids. If you select a node in the component it releases in the specific axis - whereas with the Supports, it fixes it in the axis.

best,

Matthew

Dear Matthew,

Thank you very much for your reply. It seems like I was confused with the 'support' component, because I am used to see those buttons (Tx, Ty, Tz , etc.) as fixities. Now it seems that the opposite is the case with 'beamjoints' (so allowed Tx, Ty etc instead of fixed Tx, Ty etc). But after all, I got the result I was looking for, and I have verified the moment distribution with an other program. Thanks again.

Kind Regards,
