Grasshopper

algorithmic modeling for Rhino

Hello,

I am currently working with auxetic materials, and I am attempting to simulate a a singular cube shrinking from its original form to a central point within the cube.  The link below shows a gif of this idea aggregated together.

http://www.antiprism.com/misc/aux_cell_fcc.gif

It works well when the mirror force is used at certain strengths, but if the strength goes over about 75 or 80, it sucks all the points to the center and crashes Rhino.

I have posted the GH file that I am currently working on which begins with a cube.

Thank you very much.

Hello Daniel,

Interesting work - auxetics are a fascinating subject.

I can't reproduce a Rhino crash from your definition - which versions are you using?

I think the main problem though is the ordering of the point inputs for the mirror force.

It should be like this:

This will pull A and D towards each other's mirror with respect to the plane shown, which is normal to the vector between B and C (and mid-way between them)
