algorithmic modeling for Rhino
Hi Daniel, great work.
I'm trying out this new gear feature and I tried to model a piston. I'm driving a piston by the rotational force turning the shaft to get linear motion.
Feels like I need a linear motion lock, instead of a circular axis lock (gear type), but I try to use a stationary object as a input gear to govern it. But there is a moment where the collision detection suddenly flips the object to another side.

Hi Victor,
You're right - a linear motion lock would be a good addition, thanks. Eventually the plan is to allow all different constraint types to be combined, without needing to set order of dependency.
In this specific case of the piston, I think it is actually easier to do with standard Grasshopper components(see the attached file).
Still - it should be possible to do with the gear component, and this jumping shouldn't be happening - I'll try and figure out what is going on.
Hi Daniel,
Thanks for your reply. I know it would be easy to do it in a mathematical way, but the point of doing it as simulation is that in a more complex system , it will reveal potential glitches and problem with a system design.
Any ways, thanks for the work again and it is looking good.
Cheers
Victor
