algorithmic modeling for Rhino
Hello!!
I'm trying to make a flexible grid same as model i made.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=V6ZI-C5lOn4 : normal
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FR1Jt6F_Nj8 : reverse
Could you suggest me the good way to solve this problem?
I found a discussion on the forum about Flexible diagrid very helpful..
I made a one small part of the grid but
I'm struggle with how to make bigger grid with this..
and also like a video,
I'd like to remove(or add) some control points in the grid and let the grid adapt its position in accordance.
Thank you in advance!!

oh yes.. and my goal is make a 3d grid with this.
so far i manage to do with normal mesh/grid..
I've managed to make a 2d grid that is nearly the same as the one on the video that i've attached.
Could anybody help me to do the "cutting" and "joining" the grid as on the video?
here's the definition for the 2d grid that i just made.
There is some problem of updating while I'm changing the disconnections..
I have to keep turn on and off to get the effect right..
and also small problem of increasing number of dividing the line..(stuck in number 10.. and can't really change it.. )..
...
Hi Han,
It seems you've been doing quite well in solving your own problems.
I guess, I didnt have time to look at your problem and your script, but I guess if you modeled the strings as polylines, and allow the 'clips' to be modeled separately.
You can than control the clips by using a list of booleans (Which could be in a yellow panel), which in turns changes the stiffness of the spring. You can than change the boolean and thus the stiffness on the fly during the simulation to clip or unclip them.
Cheers
Victor
oh that sounds good!!
Could you explain me a bit more detailed..?
at the moment the only thing i can think of that i can possibly do with boolean is erase from the list by using Cull pattern(using that yellow panel as a boolean input).
but I can't think of how to use the booleans for changing stiffness..
thank you for helping me Victor
:D
Hi Han ...it looks cool ... I am trying to do a similar stuff but with a pattern over the grid :). Is there any possibility to have a look at your final definition
hi,
i'm not familiar with kangaroo and want to learn it now.
for this i have taken the interesting work of Han Byul SEOL as basis,
to work on b.z.w. to vary it.
i've now created a cylindrical gridshell.
unfortunately, the effect with varying the different opening
dos not work. i don't no what is my mistake.
can someone give me an advice?
thanks
rassul
Your definition contains 2 instances of Kangaroo and 2 simulations, the top one works fine.
The bottom one does not have any force inputs.
Forces are what make things move in Kangaroo, without them nothing can happen.
I'd recommend starting with some simpler examples, or this video:
to get a feel for how things are working.
dear daniel,
many thanks for the answer, even if it is not fixes my problem.
but i would like to watch your video, and try to understand something...
one more thing, can we wish for the next year something like kangaroo primer? (:
thanks
rassul
Here is the GH definition for the video that I have uploaded.
I hope people find it helpful.
and
dear Rassul
hope this explains what you need.
otherwise let me know, I'll be happy to help if i can :D
Han
