faces clashing

Hey, I'm trying to fold a pattern but faces intersect each other and the whole thing twists.. I'm guessing maybe I need prevent the rest angle for the hinges to go above 90 degrees...( I should note that I have the mid-line points set as anchors as the pattern it is symmetrical and the y axis is also anchored..to create an accordion fold)
