algorithmic modeling for Rhino
Hi! Can anybody help me with a problem of IFC beam orientation. I need to place a group of beams in the specified directions(orientation option of "IFC BEam standart case" component does not work fine in my case) and in different insertion point. I can't resolve this problem even for one beam. I would be very grateful or any help. Thank you!!!

Hi,
Thanks for posting. You're pretty close, if you create a vector from the inner and outer points, this should set the orientation. Refer attached.
Note this seems to then give an incorrect beam path, I'm looking at now and will probably post a new installer shortly. The insertion point should be set at the beam standard case component "I" input by right clicking.
Cheers,
Jon
Ok, I just uploaded a new installer to http://www.geometrygym.com/downloads that gives a better result like the image above. If you're using Grasshopper 0.8.005x+ then email me and I'll give instructions for updating it.
Thanks again for reporting this.
Tnx John! You saved my life)) hope not only mine))) now it works great!
about the insertion point, before that i tried to set an insertion point in the profile properties component))) now its ok!
Thank you again!
If you update the plugin it will work fine. I had broken the path alignment calculation. Unfortunately I don't think there is another fix with the old build. The columns etc all shared the same code for this calculation. Is it possible to update?
Yes, i did, and now it works fine! Tnank you!
GSA doesn't really distinguish between what is a column or a beam for a structural analysis element. It does have "members" where the distinction can be made (not sure I've enabled this from grasshopper yet).
Welcome to
