Grasshopper

algorithmic modeling for Rhino

Hi:  The geodesic dome function works correctly under v4 and v5 (32).  under v5 (64) it reds out with an "Object reference not set to an instance of an object" exception.

Running Grasshopper 8.000.10.

O: a point at origin

R: set to 10

thanks

Hi Al,

I just downloaded latest release of v5 64 bit and was able to get the geodesic dome component to work.

Which version/release of v5 are you running?  As per email, make sure COFF loading is unticked in the rhino command GrasshopperDeveloperSettings.  If you try to create a geodesic dome in Rhino (not Grasshopper) does it work?  I will advise on how to resolve this ASAP.

Cheers,  Jon

Hi Jon:

I'm running Version 5.0  (5.1.2011.525, 5/25/2011) in this case 64 bit.  All these functions work under rhino v5 32 bit grasshopper with no real problems. They work under Rhino V4 correctly as well.  It's only the 64 bit GH version which is giving me problems.

I've just dragged the RHP into v5 64 and tried sdrGeoDesicDome.  Works okay.

Hi Jon:

Now that I've dragged the rhp into v5 64 the functions are working normally in GH as well.

Strange.  Many of the other functions were working normally in GH prior to explicitly loading the RHP and TB.  Polyhedron for example worked just fine.

Regardless, it seems to be operating as expected at this point.

thanks for your help

Al

Hi Al,

It does make sense (although I'm not sure why 64 bit rhino was not loading SDR rhino plugin).  My grasshopper plugins are typically skeleton satellites to the rhino plugin.  Not all commands need access to rhino document properties (such as units and tolerance) so they would work probably even if the rhino plugin was not loaded, but others might.  Glad to hear it's working.

Thanks,  Jon
