Grasshopper

algorithmic modeling for Rhino

Hi:

This is a very silly question, but I was wondering how can I rotate a profile (universal beam exactly) in order to have in the structural right direction when I sweep it.

I've tried "rotate" but it doesn't sweep.

You can nominate an "orientation" angle if it's consistent, or more probably if you have a surface and the rotation relates to the normal at each mid location, you can use that.

http://www.grasshopper3d.com/forum/topics/extruding-profile-through-a contains an example file for this using StructDrawRhino, the analysis plugins work in a similar fashion.

Let me know if this does not work for you.  Cheers,  Jon

Hi Jon:

Thanks again for your help, but I can not rotate the universal profile, although I can rotate the channel profile. But I would like to rotate the universal profile in order to set it in its structural way of working.

Here I send you the file I'm working with.

I've tried orient and it doesn't work.

You can simply input a rotation angle of 90 degrees (perhaps I should use radians to be consistent with other Grasshopper components) and it will do the sweep as you desire.

Check the attached file and let me know your thoughts.

Jon

Ok, that was very easy, but I didn't notice it until you told me.

Thanks a lot again. Everything seems to be working now.
