Grasshopper

algorithmic modeling for Rhino

Hi,

This is probably very simple, but I am trying -unsuccessfully- to import in Revit a modular facade system using adaptive components. In order to understand the process, I first tried to import just one module, using for guidance a file that I found on GG blog. The problem is that I get an error when I connect the IFC faces to the IFC Representation MAP component (not just in my definition, but also in the existing one).

I attach the definition (the green group is mine, the rest was there). Could you please help? Thank you!

Hi Amalia,

Thanks for the post.  That particular example is a more advanced workflow where the logic of the adaptive component family is also generated from Grasshopper.  This was to demonstrate what is possible, but I wouldn't say it has been used much.

More commonly, the adaptive component is manually created in Revit, and Grasshopper is used to populate instances of it.  I've attached a .rfa and grasshopper script for an example if you would like to test.  Let me know if this doesn't help.

Cheers,

Jon

Hello Jon,

Thank you for this. I understand the process, but I have another question (apologies) because when I bake and import the IFC file in Revit (I have selected curtain panel, both files in mm, I have loaded the family into project) I get the following error. Why?

Thanks again..

Can you please post (or email) the ifc that you generate?  It might be a matter of updating the rhino/revit plugins (http://www.geometrygym.com/downloads )  I did upload new versions this morning.

Cheers,

Jon
