Grasshopper

algorithmic modeling for Rhino

Hi,

I have a question if its possible to convert a Grasshopper Karamba model to Tekla with all the beams and colums included? The Tekla plugin can only make a beam from a line with manual input, but i want Karamba to automate it with the analysis.

Yours sincerely,

Giorgio

Hi Giogio,

Thanks for posting.  Yes, my tools should convert Karamba vertical elements into columns in Tekla and non-vertical elements into beams.

You should install the geometry gym plugin for Karamba to IFC, use the component to generate an IFC file.  Which version of Tekla are you using?  I'll add an command ggTeklaConvertFromIFC to then permit the translation.  You will have to prepare a mapping file with tekla naming conventions if you haven't already done this for the Karamba naming.

Cheers,

Jon

Hi Jon,

Im new to this. So i need to make an IFC file from my Grasshopper/Karamba structure and import it to Tekla. Im using Tekla 2018. What do you mean with add a command? You mean a new command in Tekla? I haven't done the mapping file.

Kind regards,

Giorgio

Hi Jon,

I have an license now for Karamba. But where can I get the plugin for the IFC from Karamba to IFC?

Regards,

Giorgio
