Grasshopper

algorithmic modeling for Rhino

Hello Grasshopper Community,

Can anyone give me advice about a problem I am having with firefly? Firefly Build 1.00067 - from them I dragged three files; Firefly.gha, Fire_X.gha, libTUIO.dil and Firefly Kinect 0.0003 - I dragged one Firefly_Kinect.gha into the Grasshopper components/functions  library. I have the recent build of Rhino 5 beta 5.1.20918.2135.9/18/ 2012 and the recent build of Grasshopper 0.9.0006. I followed Firefly's manual of trouble shooting - going to the components folder and right clicking the files and unblocking it... no success. I reinstalled Rhino and Grasshopper to see if it would help but got me the same problem. Every time I open up Grasshopper the loading screen shows it's loading Firefly Build and Firefly Kinect but it doesn't show up on my tabs. But the funny thing is that when I open up Rhino 4 and call the Grasshopper command (remember same build) it loads part of firefly.

Please if anyone has any suggestions, it would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks
Nick

Hi Nicholas,

Are you using Rhino 5.0 64-bit?  There is a known issue with the toolbar not showing up in 64-bit Grasshopper... primarily because the library depends on the C_sawapan_media.dll which is only currently compiled for 32-bit applications.  This means the Firefly toolbar should show up in both Rhino 4.0 and Rhino 5.0 32-bit.  I couldn't tell by your description if you had also copied the C_sawapan_media.dll into the components folder too.  The assembly files will need this to be there to load properly, so please copy all of the files in the installation folder into the components (special folder) for Grasshopper.  You can find more information about the installation process here:http://fireflyexperiments.com/resources/

Best,

Andy

Thanks for your Help!

Hi  Andy Payne

Can I ask you when there will be a new release of firefly totally compatible with rhino 5 64bit?

We're working on compiling a release of Firefly that is compatible for 64-bits... however, I do not have a time table for the release.

ok! tanks Andy.

do you know if is possible performing my rhino 5 64bit as 32bit in order to be able to use entirely firefly?
