Works perfect! Thanks
Zack - it should go in the same place as the Grasshopper GHA. C:\users\YOURUSERNAME\AppData\Roaming\Grasshopper\Libraries
I am wondering if anyone can direct me where to install the .dll file? I've tried in the windows system folder and the program folders for illustrator but am having no luck in establishing the connection.
Hi Andrew,
Wanted to try out your plugin, but there seems to be something wrong with the dropbox or is it just me? I can't log in (the fields are auto-filled in as always, but nothing happens when I press log in) and your download page is blank like nothing is on it and the download doesn't start. I'm not using dropbox that much, not sure if they changed their policy or is it a bug?
Could you check it? Let me know, please.
Dear Andrew,
First of all, thank you for your great plug in.
What is the ideal workflow? Should i open rhino first then Illustrator manually or should grasshoper open the illustrator itself?
In both ways it gives me an error "1. Solution exception:Unable to cast COM object of type 'System.__ComObject' to interface type 'Illustrator.Application'. This operation failed because the QueryInterface call on the COM component for the interface with IID '{95CD20AA-AD72-11D3-B086-0010A4F5C335}' failed due to the following error: No such interface supported (Exception from HRESULT: 0x80004002 (E_NOINTERFACE))"
Thank you very much~
Hello Andrew,
I got the same issue to open illustrator with Doodlebug. I use windows 10 with CC 2015.3.1.
Did anyone figured out a way to make it work on windows 10?
thanks,
seems like a cool plugin
Hey Andrew, thanks for the plugin! One quick question: can you link views other than "Top?" Say Perspective, Front, Right?
Grasshopper 1.0 has a Make2D component which would make perspective drawings much easier with doodlebug.
Ok so I got things working on my work computer. Coming home, giddy as a june bug to try a few things out, I ran into another error on attempting to run the 'OpenIllustrator' component:
1. Solution exception:Retrieving the COM class factory for component with CLSID {B0D0A647-983E-485B-9A69-45F0382F0D9C} failed due to the following error: 80040154 Class not registered (Exception from HRESULT: 0x80040154 (REGDB_E_CLASSNOTREG)).
Note the previous comment I did the Unblock with Doodlebug CC 2014 and it worked on Windows 7. At home here I am running Doodlebug CC 2015 with Illustrator v. 2015.3.1 release on Windows 10.
Shot in the dark: maybe needs a namespace declaration to work with Windows 10?
Thoughts on a solution?
Hi Michael,
Thanks for your feedback. The issue was not the folder structure but instead, I had to Unblock the .zip folder prior to extracting the files. (Doodlebug_CC2015 > Right Click > Properties > Unblock.) Then extract and copy both the .dll and .gha files into your Grasshopper 'Components' folder.
Hope that helps any future people that run into the same issue.
Cheers!
Hi Tim, I ran into that issue myself. I found I needed to place the Doodlebug.gha and IllustratorInterop.dll files inside a new 'Doodlebug' folder within the grasshopper Components folder.
