algorithmic modeling for Rhino
DIVA-for-Rhino is a plugin which runs thermal, daylight, solar radiation, and glare simulations. Our goal is to bring validated environmental simulations directly to the conceptual design environments of Rhino and Grasshopper.

Hello!I am using DIVA for grasshopper and I noticed that the daylight factor increases when using higher "quality" or higher radiance parameters. Especially -ab and -ad. So the question about the…Continue

Hi everyone,I am running annual glare probability in Diva-Rhino for my project but it is taking so long and at the end there is no result. (see attached photo)any idea what is the issue?Continue

Hi,
Is there anyway that we can calculate Mean Radiant Temperature (MRT) by VIPER?
Thanks a lot
Hi Jon,
Thanks again for helping me!
I sent you the Ghs definition attached to this comment: i was trying to find out the problem and i simplified a little bit the shape, but it persist.
I really can't find any issue and Viper worked always perfectly.
I hope you will do!
Thanks again,

Hi Stefano,
I'm not sure a single-zone thermal model is the right way to analyze your Metaball structure. Even if there were no internal partitions, the model would want to be divided into multiple convex zones, which, unfortunately, Viper cannot do.
The non-planarity warning is a separate issue. In principle, it shouldn't happen if your surfaces are planar. If you post the definition I can take a look.

Hi everyone,
I'm trying to make the thermal analysis of a Metaball structure.
I modeled it with Grasshopper as a series of patches that follow the curve of the metaball and that work as ext. walls and planar surfaces on top as roofs and one under everything as a slab, all the structure is one single zone...
The issue is that when i run the Viper simulation it responds with an error message: "Geo can't be exported because it contains at least one non-planar surface".
So i checked with the "planar" command but none of the geometry figured out to be non-planar!
Can you please help me?
Thanks in advance,
Stefano///
Hi Ignacio,
could you - or anybody else - be so kind and provide us with a gh-file to get started with DIVA? Especially how to achieve a shadow diagram with overlay of several sunpositions (see 3 posts before, from Igancios DIVA test) would be extremely helpful. Thanks a lot.
Hi Thomas,
Check the range of values being produced by the component for solar irradiation and the domain L0 and L1 of the false-color component. If it is at the default of 1, then everything is going to be topped out at blue, try something like 1500.

Where did it goes wrong? :-)
Brilliant plugin...congratulations! Just the wind analysis is missing ;) DIVA TESTS
Actually, Viper doesn't depend on the DIVA for Rhino toolbar. Sacha -- I'm sending you a message so we can troubleshoot.
