Grasshopper

algorithmic modeling for Rhino

Hi everybody,

I was running some heating/cooling analysis with Viper when i decided to add also the 'interior light electricity' output.

I quickly noticed strange results because they weren't changing while i changed the percentage of glazing (wich looked very strange) and the problem is still persisting.

Is it normal?

Logically they should improve or decrease according to the amount of light coming inside the building?

Another thing is, why in the message output i get: "mesh vertex array list lenght: ..." repeated for many lines?

Never happened before...

Thanks a lot!

PS: Diva it's amazing, the more i use it the more i enjoy it!

Hi Stefano,

The internal lights won't adjust to daylight levels unless you specify a dimming set point or schedule.  (Mouse over the "Lighting Cntrl" input for instructions.)

Don't worry about the mesh vertex messages.

Jon

Thanks a lot Jon!

I putted 300 Lux and now it works perfectly giving reasonable results!

Regarding the metaball issue I decreased a lot the number of frames and now the thermal analysis is working but cannot make the "full exterior interior" solar distribution, only the exterior.

The error message in the error log text file that i found in the EnergyPlus folder is the following:

Program Version,EnergyPlus-32 7.0.0.036, 31/10/2012 12:06,IDD_Version 7.0.0.036
************* Beginning Zone Sizing Calculations
** Severe ** Problem in interior solar distribution calculation (CHKBKS)
** ~~~ ** Solar Distribution = FullInteriorExterior will not work in Zone=ZONE1
** ~~~ ** because vertex 1 of back surface=ZONE1_FACE_19 is in front of receiving surface=ZONE1_FACE_17
** ~~~ ** (Dot Product indicator=229.5234)
** ~~~ ** Check surface geometry; if OK, use Solar Distribution = FullExterior instead.

and continues for 3292 times! I did not understand anyway deeply what it is...

If you are curious I can send you the error file.

Thanks again,

hear you soon,
