"snippets" are really just regular GH user objects. While I agree that some tools for editing user objects would be a great proper functionality improvement, in the meantime, there is a trick :) 

1. lock the solver

2. put the snippet on the canvas

3. select the snippet and save it as a user object (you can change any properties at this point, including the icon)

4. delete the old user object from your user objects folder.
