Grasshopper

algorithmic modeling for Rhino

Hi !

I have a wish about comments :

In the current state, if I want to add comments on my definition, I group a single component and give the group a name with the comment inside. This is fine, until you want to make long comments and the name's label gets out of hand.

It could be as in the picture below, something like error balloon message that appear when you place the mouse around.

(actually, the icon I use was included in the parameter's icon package, maybe something is already planed about it or has existed in former release ?).

Many thanks ! and keep on with the good work :)

note : any users advice or tips on way to add comments are also welcome!

Sylvain.

I use either scribble or panels, but these are not hidden. Everything you see below is done using Native Grasshopper tools

Yep, these are really usefull, I really like the name on param to name variables and find them back (it works with the "find" tool!).

I was refering to this kind of situation :

When you want to give other people explanation on what you are doing, how tree structure is managed is model.

And this is the kind of extra long label i'd like to shrink in a buble

You could have a really small Panel with a Title like "Note" to make it obvious. When you double click on it it opens the editor and you see the whole text or scroll through if its longer.

I guess Ning discussion threads are very good at handling quick responses :)

I removed it as soon as it was posted and I saw you reply, but you were obviously too quick

No problems ! :)

Never though about the shrinked panel, good idea !

What is ning?

This forum is based on Ning system.
I just hope McNeels folks won't merge it with discourse.mcneel.com, as we like it this way. Especially the design and functionality of Ning.

Actually, the point already emerged onthis discussion (with the exact same drawing, shame on me) or this one but no new since that...
