algorithmic modeling for Rhino
since today when I try to open a Rhino 4 file in which there are curves associated to the relative Parameter in Grasshopper, the files don't open, I tried with few of them, and the error message says that Windows is out of memory!!! (but there is plenty of...) in Rhino 5 I can open the file and the GH definition works. Some hints or suggestions? (I MUST work out a Rhino 4 file) Recently I just installed few GH plug-ins or one for Rhino VSR WebGL Export.
Thank you
Francesco

If you have rhino 5 64 bits on windows 7 64 bits, you can fully use all the memory (unless you have more than 192 GB ... or using premium or basic).
But Rhino 4 cant deal with more than 4GB (or something like that), even on a 64 bits system.
Hi Francesco,
when you open the file in Rhino5, how much memory is used according to the Windows Task Manager?
You can lock the solver prior to opening a file, which should prevent extra data from being created. That way you might be able to find which component is responsible for the memory overflow and fix it.

Hello David,
well the GH definition is very simple, so I understand your suggestion, but it is not the point to lock the solver saving the GH file when closing it and unlock "by component" reopening the file. Anyway when I open the file in Rhino 5 opening as well the GH definition the memory usage is 1K of Memory (Private Working Set) (Win7 64). I was able to "solve" the problem saving from Rhino 5 to Rhino 4. When I did it a first time there was a warning message in Rhino 5 that it was not possible to save some part of the file for the V4 (now I don't remember what) but today I did the same and 5 saved in 4 even without the warning message, and 4 opened the file that otherwise was not able to open directly, and the original file was created in 4. Wierd stuff...
