Grasshopper

algorithmic modeling for Rhino

Hi, is it possible to create curtain walls and windows normal to an angled wall 'from solid'?

Also, I am attempting to create a new window style with the lunchbox component. Is it possible to create new styles that update with adjustments to previous components in GH?

Thank you

Hi Erik:

You can place windows, doors and openings in walls, but not curtain walls in walls. To achieve that you need a workaround consisting in doing a Boolean operation between a wall and a solid of subtraction (using the _vaWallSubtractSolid command) and then placing a curtain wall in the resulting hole. However the hole won’t be attached to the curtain wall position and dimensions. Saying that, you can insert openings in angled walls, but they will be oriented to one of the two walls path. To create a double-curved wall you need to create a solid in Rhino and convert it into a VisualARQ wall using the _vaWallFromSolid command. This video shows how it works: https://youtu.be/UpYVBD8K1Sg

In Grasshopper you can create window styles using the same parameters provided by VisualARQ to create new styles. In VisualARQ 2.0 we will allow creating these styles from any definition in Grasshopper, including other add-on components.
