Grasshopper

algorithmic modeling for Rhino

Has anybody noticed any performance drop off with Grasshopper after updating to windows 10? I've been noticing some slow down particularly on opening rhino and a GH file for the first time. Once I have it open, and start opening other files, it seems to work fine, but There is a definite slowdown on the first open.

Hard disk access is probably the only thing that can cause human noticeable slowdowns. Both Rhino & Grasshopper have to load a bunch of stuff before they become active.  So get a disk defreg program and check to see how badly your program file disk is fragmented. If it is more than 20% fragmented do a defrag operation - after you do a full backup of course.

Option #2 is to put your OS and all programs on an SSD; this is the single best performance improvement most people can make. There is no file fragmentation on an SSD.
