algorithmic modeling for Rhino

Hiya,

In my model I've defined the wind loads as uniform line loads (it's an unclad structure and I want the load to only apply to the member). I think what I'm getting at the moment isn't taking into account the area of the face of the member. Do you have any thoughts as to how I might go about applying this? I'm also using the optimiser which may or may not make it more complicated as the sections sizes are determined after the loads have been applied.

Cheers

Hi Rob,

multiply the wind pressure (kN/m²) with the cross section width [m]. This gives you the corresponding line-load (kN/m).

If you use the cross section optimizer, choose the largest cross section width for calculating the line-load. Alternatively do multiple cross section optimizer rounds and update the loads after each iteration.

Best,

Clemens
