algorithmic modeling for Rhino

Hey All

I know in OG rhino Boolean union is a real pain, and can fail for a multitude of reasons. Well I am having trouble here with brep join. As in the picture, my brep join won't work, yes the pipe is capped. What is the deal?

Thanks

try setting your rhino document tolerances to 0.000001"

Don't you mean increase document tolerance, not shrink it? I increased my document tolerances and solid union worked

Two closed brep join? I don't know how that's even possible.

Instead, How about using "Solid Union"?

Yes that worked, this is my first time combining breps, I wasn't sure what command to use.

Thanks

In the future, if a Boolean fails add a jostle or somehow move the parts every so slightly to avoid kissing surfaces that fail to penetrate one another boldly enough to define a clear intersection curve for the Boolean black box to work on. If you have to move something 0.001 or 0.005 units you won't notice it but it can truly fix Boolean failures. To diagnose Booleans, use BrepBrep to visualize the intersection curves, looking for weird artifacts where there should be clear loops.
