Grasshopper

algorithmic modeling for Rhino

I've downloaded the latest version of Grasshopper and have also installed the  Microsoft Office - Access Database Engine 2010 64Bit package as per this discussion.

In Grasshopper, I have linked my .shp file to a path component, and plugged the path component into the .shp-file import component. I'm not receiving any error messages. My question is, what additional components do I need to plug in after the .shp-file component (or before) in order to see the corresponding geometry associated with the .shp file?

I should note, the .shp file I downloaded came in a zip folder with some other additional files: DBF, PRJ, SBN, SBX, and SHX. So far these files have not been linked into the system and I don't know if that is required in order to make everything work.

If someone could please describe the components needed and their pathway that would be appreciated.

Thanks,

Tim

Which path component are you using, the "file path" or "data path" ?

You want to make sure you're using the "file path" component and it is directed to the correct path.

If this isn't the issue, there might not be any "curve" elements contained in your shp file.

Are you able to open the shp file with another software to see what it contains?

Thanks for your quick reply Nick.

I am using a file path. I've tried opening the shp file with AutoCad but was unsuccessful. When I hover my mouse over the shp-file import component curve node, it says that it is interpreting somewhere around 33,000 curves.

I should note that in the image above, there are no curves assigned (or set) to the curve component on the output side (the right side). I merely plugged this curve component in thinking that maybe it would help the system work properly...

Thoughts?
