algorithmic modeling for Rhino

hello forum,

As a part of a larger definition I have a series of circles that need to be shattered to isolate a single arc segment. This one circle out of the bunch just wont shatter!? I cant understand why.

When I feed the same parameters on the curve in manually it works , but when they are fed from the curve closet point component I get the same circular curve out of the shatter command.

any advice is appreciated?

Shatter can't recognize more than "n(?)" places of decimals? I have no idea.

interesting and good to know! I will keep this workaround in mind THANKS!

If the shattered segments become short (as compared to the document tolerance) it is assumed that those segments are not wanted. Ie. points very close together were probably meant to be a single point.

If you don't want this you can try to:

  1. Create Consecutive Domains from your shatter parameters.
  2. Extract subcurves.

Though to be fair I don't know if SubCurve also refuses to return very short curves.

Thanks David, I never tried the subcurve component, I will give it a shot.
