algorithmic modeling for Rhino
Hello.
I'm trying to perform a structural analysis on a Voronoi Panel, but the AnalyseThI component says that the equations for solving the static system does not fit in my computer. It amounted to 200+ GB.
I have severely reduced the number of Voronoi cells and the number of support nodes and point loads, so nu it amounts to around 70 GB.
Is it right to say that if my computer has a RAM memory of 16GB, it will only be able to perform this calculation if the static system is lower than 16 GB?
How could I reduce this static system the most efficient way?
Thank you.
(I cannot upload the file because it is around 17 MB.)

Hello Erik,
how many mesh faces do you use for modelling the structure? The most efficient way to reduce the static system is to lower the mesh resolution - as long as it does not have an impact on the structural response (e.g. the maximum displacement.
If the physical memory on a system is not sufficient Windows uses virtual memory in addition. You could increase the size of the virtual memory in the Windows settings. Using virtual memory will however slow down the solution procedure dramatically since data needs to be transferred between physical memory and hard disk.
Do you use karamba 1.2.1? Compared to version 1.1.0 the solver uses up much less memory.
Best,
Clemens
Ok thank you.
I'm using the 1.1.0 version. I'll upgrade and try again.
It works now! Thanks again!
